Description:

Description for B&B:

The charming farmhouse, originally constructed in 1802 and recently renovated to preserve its original features, is nestled on a tranquil lane in the outskirts of Chignat hamlet. Surrounded by expansive gardens and adorned with barns on one side, this traditional residence offers a serene retreat. The meticulously landscaped grounds, spanning over 2 hectares, boast a plethora of magnificent trees, blooming shrubs, well-maintained lawns, meadows, and a bountiful vegetable garden.

Accommodation-wise, the farmhouse features five bedrooms, including a double room, a family room, two twin bedded rooms, and a single room. Bernie, a skilled professional cook, serves exceptional 5-star, four-course dinners in the evenings, using primarily organic ingredients sourced either from the on-site vegetable garden or local suppliers. The room tariff also includes a delightful breakfast, providing a nourishing start to your day. The breakfast selection encompasses fruit juice, cereal, organic muesli, fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants, homemade bread and preserves, porridge during colder weather, and ample coffee.

Additionally, there is a cozy campsite located on 5 acres of gently sloping meadow, accommodating 25 pitches. The campsite is adorned with a diverse array of mature trees, shrubs, and abundant bird life, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts (don't forget to bring your binoculars!). For those bringing caravans or camping cars, there are electric hook-ups available for six units. Furthermore, two spacious and fully equipped trailer tents are available for rent. The campsite offers top-notch sanitary facilities, including a disabled shower and toilet, and follows a comprehensive recycling policy with a reed bed system for waste water. Additionally, guests can enjoy the games room located in one of the barns, as well as access to a fridge and a washing machine.

Directions

To locate Chignat, please note that it is often labeled as Chignal on maps, which can be confusing. Upon reaching Bourganeuf, you will encounter a roundabout (there is only one). From there, proceed onto the D37 and continue onto the D8 towards Lac de Vassivière. Stay on this road and after approximately 3 kilometers, keep an eye out for our blue signs indicating a left turn. Follow these signs towards Chignat, and you will easily identify our property by its distinct gates.
