Directions

Directions to Parleboscq:

The GPS coordinates for Marsans Castel are LAt/Long: N43 55.300 E0 02.057 (WGS 84).

If you are driving in France for the first time, keep in mind that the French drive on the opposite side of the road. It is important to follow suit, especially when starting off or turning right. French drivers tend to drive very close to other cars, so try to avoid sudden braking. In France, flashing headlights indicate "I am here and you must get out of my way" or can be used to warn other motorists of police ahead. Make sure to carry your driving license and all the necessary car documents, as the police often conduct checks. On-the-spot fines are issued for most offenses, including speeding.

Speed limits in France are as follows: 50km/h (30mph) in towns, 90km/h (56mph) on ordinary roads, 110km/h (70mph) on dual carriageways, and 130km/h (81mph) on motorways. These limits are reduced by 20km/h in rainy conditions. Be cautious at stop signs, as the police are keen on enforcing the rules. Overtaking and crossing continuous white lines are also strictly enforced. Cyclists have the right of way and should be given plenty of room.

Traffic jams are common on motorways, particularly at toll booths in the summer. Look out for signs indicating "BOUCHON" (traffic jam) and proceed with caution. Most motorways in France have tolls, and there are two systems: either pay a set price for a short distance or take a ticket and pay at the end of your trip. Make sure to choose a lane with a person taking the money to avoid any confusion.

Service stations are available on motorways and are safer than rest areas. It is advised to avoid remote rest areas, especially at night, as there have been reports of highwaymen operating there.

When entering a village or town, you will usually find combined town and speed limit signs. The speed limit ends when the town sign has a red line through it. Pay attention to "prioritie a droite" signs, which indicate right of way for traffic joining from the right.
