Description:

Description for B&B:

This picturesque village is nestled on the side of a hill, offering stunning views of the OGNON valley. Known as a paradise for fishermen, it has managed to preserve its old-world charm with its historic sites.

The village is divided into two parts. In the "Bourg en haut," you can find the castle, the church with its distinctive "clocher comtois" tower, and the Grammont Hospital, which all indicate its ancient origins as a fortified village. In the "Bourg en bas," there are remnants of a prosperous era, including a mill, a weaving mill, and an old railway station, along with the remnants of the old forges and their locks.

The house itself dates back to the late 15th century and is situated in the heart of the city, close to shops and only 50 meters from the castle. However, it is set back in an upper terrace garden-park, which is open to guests and offers a splendid view of the lower part of the city and the surrounding countryside.

Pascal and Philippe have dedicated their energy to restoring this house, creating a welcoming space for guests to enjoy pleasant moments in their company.

The thick walls, constructed with large lime-seamed stones, ensure the house remains cool, while the oak ceilings and carefully chosen furniture create a warm and tranquil atmosphere inside.

The house features a spacious drawing-room and music-room, separated from the dining room by a traditional fireplace. Guests can relax amidst two grand pianos and a Flemish harpsichord.

On the second floor, there are two double bedrooms and one single bedroom, all situated beneath an impressive oak frame. These rooms are tastefully decorated with antique furnishings.

The large red room is a double room with a 140 cm wide old bed. It also includes a lavatory with a washbasin and WC.

Next to the red room, there is the blue room, also a double room with an old 130 cm wide bed. If needed, it can be connected to the red room through access to the lavatory.

The yellow room is a single room with a charming 110 cm wide "boat-bed."

A bathroom with a bath, shower, washbasin, and WC is available for the three rooms on the first floor.

Guests have access to various amenities, including the drawing-room, music-room, TV lounge, fully equipped kitchen, terrace balcony, and the garden and park with a swimming pool during the summer months.

Attractions in the area include the church, parsonage, and town-hall from the 18th century, as well as a Renaissance Castle and the Grammont Hospital with its 18th-century pharmacy. Guided tours of the city and the pharmacy are available.

There are also plenty of activities to enjoy, such as canoeing, kayaking, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, exploring castles, fishing, and swimming.
