Directions

Chateau La Mothaye is conveniently situated between Angers and Saumur, just a five-minute drive from the A85 motorway. This makes it an ideal choice for a stopover during your trip to the stunning Loire region. From here, you have easy access to explore the magnificent chateaux, historic towns, abbeys, wine fields, and much more.

If you are traveling by car from the Channel Ports, the journey from Calais or Boulogne typically takes around 4.5 hours. However, opting for a ferry crossing to one of the more southern French ferry ports, such as Le Havre, Cherbourg, Caen, or St. Malo, can reduce your driving time upon arrival in France. Please note that crossing times will be longer in these cases. The journey by car from Paris to Chateau La Mothaye usually takes approximately 3 hours.

For those preferring to travel by train, the nearest TGV station is in Angers, which is just a 30-minute drive away from the chateau. Eurostar services from London Waterloo (or St. Pancras from 2007) or Ashford offer convenient connections to Angers and Tours. The high-speed TGV trains can take you from Paris to Angers in just 90 minutes. If needed, we can arrange to pick you up from the Angers train station. Car hire is also available at the station for your convenience.

If you prefer to travel by air, there are several local airports to choose from, including Tours, Poitiers, Nantes, Angers, and Rennes. Reliable airlines offer regular flight deals from various airports in the U.K. to these destinations, as well as Paris. Ryanair, for example, offers fantastic online deals from Stansted to Tours, with a flight time of under an hour. Car hire at Tours airport is straightforward and reasonably priced. Additionally, Flybe provides flights from Southampton to Angers, which is only a 30-minute drive from Chateau La Mothaye.
