Combine this with the renowned French bread and wine, including high-quality options starting at just two Euros, and you have the perfect French evening.

A beautiful public park and picnic area is just 200 meters from our doorstep! This beach on the river Vienne is a short walk from the house and offers a picturesque setting between a stunning weir with a water mill and the town's road bridge. During the summer season, there is a sandy beach area where you can bring a picnic basket and enjoy a meal in the fresh air at one of the picnic benches or on a blanket. Additionally, you can rent boats and kayaks from a professional hire company located here during the high season, adding to the holiday atmosphere.

A little further up the river, you'll find Confolens' own open-air swimming pool with water slides. This pool is situated alongside the River Vienne and offers beautiful countryside views. It's the perfect way to enjoy the glorious summer in the Charente, which boasts sunshine hours and temperatures second only to the Cote d'Azur. Grab a sunbed, take a refreshing dip, have fun, and don't forget the sunscreen!

We are located in the heart of the ancient town of Confolens, which is the epitome of romantic France. It is a joy to behold and one of the most attractive old towns in the country. We may be biased, but we are confident that Confolens will embed itself as a special place in your heart, just as it did ours. The town gets its name from the word "confluence," as it has been a central trade route since Roman times. The Vieux Pont, the town's historic 8th-century Roman bridge spanning the wide and serene River Vienne, is a sight to behold. The bridge once had three defensive towers, which can be seen on the town's coat of arms.

Confolens is a town rich in culture and music, with numerous festivals throughout the year. The highlight is the internationally renowned week-long folk music festival in August.

There is plenty to keep the whole family entertained, making Confolens a self-contained destination for a fun, relaxed, and truly memorable holiday. Take a look at our guide to entertainment for families in and around the town on the Ville de Confolens tab (above left).

Confolens is approximately a 40-minute drive from Limoges Airport, which is served by Ryanair with flights from several UK airports, including East Midlands, Leeds-Bradford, and Manchester. The airport is small and efficient, making your journey hassle-free. Once on the roads, despite driving on the opposite side to the UK, you'll find them relaxing to navigate with less traffic and population. Come, explore, and unwind.

The Poitou Charente region offers miles of breathtaking countryside, dotted with charming villages, towns, and larger cities such as Poitiers, home to the second most popular theme park in France after Euro Disney. The region also boasts the historic home of the Queen of England, where she ruled France. With so much to see and do in the surrounding area, Confolens makes for a perfect base for your holiday.

This is the epitome of happiness!
