If traveling by car, simply take the 3 km bridge connecting l'Ile de Ré to La Rochelle. This city is situated between Nantes and Bordeaux and can be reached easily via the A10 motorway. The by-pass at the motorway exit conveniently avoids the city center and leads directly to the bridge.
