It sits in the middle of a large granite plateau and is positioned on the southern side of the National Livradois Forest Park. The climate in this area is typical of a low mountain plateau, offering a diverse range of landscapes such as upland pastures, forests, and rocky gorges.

Directions

To reach St Andre de Chalencon from St Etienne, follow the signs towards Le Puy en Velay. Take the exit for Bas en Basset and continue on this road until you are close to Retournac. After passing the village of Jussac, you will see a right turn marked Craponne. Follow this road for approximately 5 minutes until you reach a crossroads after the hamlet of La Baraque. Take a right turn at this crossroads to reach St Andre de Chalencon.

As you approach St Andre from the Laberte river hill, watch for a left turn marked STADE. Take this turn and at the immediate T junction, turn left. You are now entering Chazelles, and you will soon see the large wall of the annex ahead on your left. Look for the green iron entrance gates just after this building on the left. If the gates are closed, ring the bell located on the left by the gates, and we will open them for you.
