Originally a medieval fortress, it was later transformed during the Renaissance and refurbished in the Louis XV style. The castle served as the residence of Duke Decrès, who was the Minister of the Navy under Napoléon I. The castle is open to visitors and is recognized as a historic monument from the 16th and 18th centuries, boasting a collection of furniture. It is available for visitation all year round for groups, but reservations are required. During the summer season and weekends from Easter to All Saints, it is open to the public. A guided tour of approximately 45 minutes is offered. Additionally, the castle offers the opportunity to stay in the Duchess apartments as a bed and breakfast option.
