Description:

Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the ones we have lost," as stated by M. Proust. But it is impossible to evoke such sentiments after being confined to our homes.

Dating back to the eighteenth century, the country villa "Il Palazzotto" was once a farm in this Etruscan village, nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Sienese hills. With its abundance of cypress trees, castles, and farms scattered among olive groves and vineyards, this location is a true representation of Tuscany. Situated just 30 km from Siena, "Il Palazzotto" offers easy access to all the magnificent wonders of the region. Notably, this area is renowned for producing the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine, and it is also traversed by the historic "Via Francigena" route, which ancient pilgrims took from France to Rome.

Our villa comfortably accommodates up to 12 people, with 6 spacious double rooms and 6 bathrooms. The ground floor comprises a large living room, a spacious lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen, all opening onto a panoramic terrace overlooking a vibrant garden adorned with flowers and plants, including a wisteria pergola. (Check out our video on Youtube: "Il Palazzotto Siena")

Immerse yourself in a romantic atmosphere as you dine by candlelight, experiencing a unique connection with nature while marveling at the breathtaking panorama that once captivated Leonardo da Vinci. Adjacent to this terrace, you will find another delightful space at a higher level, complete with a pool and a well-groomed sundeck.

Spread across 42 acres of wooded areas and Mediterranean vegetation, the property is home to a diverse flora and fauna, preserved as part of a natural park with green routes for exploration.

At "Il Palazzotto," we offer our guests the expertise of the owner and a qualified staff who are readily available to cater to your every need. Whether you require information about the surrounding cities, guidance on local routes, or recommendations for farms and castles to visit, we are here to assist you. Our utmost dedication is reserved for the culinary experience, where you can savor authentic local products and dishes prepared by the owner, such as Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, Pecorino cheese from Pienza, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli, panforte, and more.

This historic house has been meticulously restored and renovated, preserving the traditional Tuscan style. On the ground floor, you will find spacious living and lounging areas, complete with two fireplaces for ultimate relaxation. Telephone, fax, and internet connections are also available for your convenience. From the ground floor, you can access the garden terrace or ascend to the first floor, where the six bedrooms are located.

The first floor boasts six generously sized bedrooms, tastefully furnished by the owner with quality pieces. Each room offers splendid views, and the corner rooms are equipped with private bathrooms featuring showers, bidets, and modern amenities. All the rooms feature double beds, with one room accommodating an additional single bed. The two central rooms are adorned with canopy beds, while the other two rooms offer twin beds. A shared bathroom with a shower is located down the hallway, and an additional bathroom is available on the ground floor.

With its central location, "Il Palazzotto" allows for easy exploration of Florence, Siena, and their surrounding areas. Within an hour or so, you can reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi and Perugia. Rome is a mere 200 km away from our villa. Our region is celebrated for its historical significance and natural beauty, with the Renaissance charm of Florence, the Gothic allure of Siena, and the remnants of Etruscan and Roman civilizations dotting the landscape. Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni are also notable destinations worth visiting. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add a special allure to your journey. Places like the St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino, with its enchanting Gregorian chants, the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, adorned with Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli, and the captivating ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano are just a few examples of what our region has to offer. Furthermore, the diverse and ever-changing landscape of hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields will leave an indelible mark on your memory, just as Proust would say – a memory both voluntary and involuntary.
